About

Set against the backdrop of Benaughlin mountain and surrounded by parkland and woodland, Florence Court offers a breathtaking historic estate in the heart of West Fermanagh.

At its centre lies the elegant Georgian mansion, home to the Cole family, where carefully restored interiors and intricate plasterwork reflect both craftsmanship and resilience following a devastating fire in 1955. Today, this ongoing conservation work continues to protect the building’s heritage for the future.

Beyond the house, visitors can enjoy self-led walks through scenic woodland trails and explore the working estate, including the water-powered sawmill and blacksmith’s forge—vivid reminders of traditional rural industry.

The walled garden is another highlight, where National Trust projects, including the reintroduction of glasshouses, are reviving historic gardening techniques and supporting conservation through volunteer involvement.

Reflecting this year’s theme, “Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine,” Florence Court demonstrates how historic places can be carefully restored, actively managed, and reimagined—ensuring this remarkable estate continues to thrive for generations to come.
