About

Join our Event Guide Ian who will show what life in Bronze Age Ireland would have looked and felt like through the eyes of a typical bronze age family. A very different life in a very different time, approximately 2,500 to 3,000 years ago!

Ian will demonstrate first hand how an incredible new invention called a "furnace" developed by humans during the bronze age works. You will discover how Bronze Age man used the furnace to make a new metal called bronze, smelting both copper and tin to make this new alloy a much stronger material and therefore better for making farming tools and weapons. See and feel bronze age weapons including, spear heads, socket axe and pal stave axe.

Explore with Ian as you discover evidence left on todays landscape left by the settlers from the Bronze Age by searching for stone circles, ancient field boundaries, rock art, standing stones and ring forts. You will become a detective and discover 2,500 year old rock art and ancient field boundaries. Looking for signs on the landscape you will learn why the settlers were attracted to the area to live and how it would have looked different to today.

Suitable for families with children 6yrs – 12yrs of age. Come dressed in what a bronze age child or warrior would have looked like. Adults must remain with children for the duration of the event.
