About
WildeDay is coming to Enniskillen.
WildeDay is a celebration of the life and work of Oscar Wilde and his close connections to Irelands only island town.
The event will launch on the anniversary of Oscar’s birthday, Friday October 16th, with the main WildeDay events happening from 10am to 4pm on Saturday October 17th.
WildeDay will be community led, community focused and accessible to all.
Taking acknowledged inspiration from Bloomsday, we will stage approximately 20 separate events throughout the day all across Enniskillen with performers in Victorian period dress. If you look closely you might even spot the man himself.
There will be music, drama, dance, readings, performances, but most of all, fun.
Events will be staged within businesses and in public spaces across the town. WildeDay will be a celebration of Enniskillen and Fermanagh's literary heritage, accessible and available to everyone.
WildeDay will be a fun, engaging event designed to take our literary heritage and build from it a vibrant, vital part of the cultural landscape.
We are starting small with this years WildeDay, but we aim to develop it as an annual event, an established part of the cultural landscape in Fermanagh and further afield.
On October 16th listen to the call of the Wilde and come to Enniskillen, the home of the Happy Prince.
WildeDay is supported by Happy Days EIBF, Experience Enniskillen and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
