Biodiversity week events

About

Celebrate nature and biodiversity all over Leitrim and the Organic Centre, Rossinver on National Biodiversity Week from Friday May 15th to Sunday 24th May. Free events include a talk by expert UCDs Dr Adam Smith charting the growth & decline of different species in Ireland.
'Kildare Wildlife Rescue' will also be speaking about their heart moving work, helping injured animals in distress on Monday 18th. Find out about new ways to counteract algae bloom in our local lakes with Ollan Herr. Inspirational wildlife photography and social media influencer Fionn O Donoghue will be giving us all some insights to his wildlife work. Discover about Leitrim's local grassland and the rare marsh fritillary butterfly with Sabine Waniek. With daily self guided Biodiversity Treasure hunts to discover what's on the grounds of the centre, there's something for everyone.

As part of Biodiversity week The Organic Centre is also delighted to have its Blue Tit bird box back up with new residents, now live streamed. The birds have 9 eggs and everyone waits excitedly for them to hatch. Watch the activity live on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V8tCqneypc You can also check it out from a live monitor set up at the Grass Roof cafe.
