About
Long before Hallowe'en, there was Samhain, the old Celtic New Year: a night when fires were lit, stories were told and people gathered to let go of the old year and welcome the new.
On Saturday 31 October, Finn Lough brings Samhain back to the shores of Lough Erne with an evening of story, song, food and fire, beginning at 5:30pm at the Harvest Hideout and running until around 11pm.
The evening includes:
- Welcome canapés and seasonal pairings
- Storytelling with Fiona Crudden on Samhain, the ancient roots of Hallowe'en
- A Fermanagh boxty tasting and demonstration
- An interactive bodhrán session with Ruairí Glasheen (no experience needed)
- A Samhain feast of seasonal small plates
- Fire spinning, then traditional music, song and stories around the fire with Rosie Stewart and her sisters, and Joe Stewart
Tickets are £175 per person and places are limited to 30 guests. Much of the evening is outdoors, so dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes. Please let us know about any dietary requirements in advance.
Make a weekend of it: the Samhain stay package includes the Festival evening, an overnight stay with breakfast, and a Sunday morning of renewal with movement in the Shoreline Dome, sauna and a lake swim at the Shoreline Spa, then brunch. Available on any stay that includes the night of 31 October at the room rate plus £195 per person: finnlough.com/offers/samhain-stay
