About

The country park boasts beautiful woodland and lough shore walks, an insect garden and wildflower meadow. Castle Archdale was the main flying boat base during WWII, highlighted in an exhibition in the visitor centre entitled ‘Castle Archdale at War’.

Castle Archdale at War Exhibition
An Extra 100 miles - explains the role played of Castle Archdale during the war and this display includes such items as old parts of aeroplanes, fuel tanks and old documents relating to the war. Lough Erne played an important role as the most westerly flying-boat station, from which aircraft protected the allied convoys from the U-Boat threat in the North Atlantic.

Farm Equipment Through the Ages Exhibition
The Museum’s collection of farm machinery and equipment presented by the farming community of Fermanagh includes e.g. ploughs, harrows, grubbers, threshing and winnowing machines - all the equipment needed for tillage in Fermanagh. Mowing machines, tedders, hay rakes, and rick shifts – tell the story of haymaking long ago. These items are on display in the arches adjacent to the lower courtyard car park.

'Our Limestone Landscapes' Exhibition
An exhibition promoting the value of Our Limestone Landscapes. The exhibition was developed to promote the value of our visually stunning limestone landscapes. This rare habitat, formed over millennia, supports a unique mix of flora and fauna. The exhibition aims to raise awareness of the threats to this habitat and the need for conservation of its biodiversity. Discover this visually stunning landscape and its unique biodiversity.

Not just a country park! Not only is Castle Archdale a Country Park but it also has a range of other facilities for the visitor including e.g. a marina, day boat hire, watersports, White Island Ferry Service, bike and fishing rod hire and a caravan and camp site. The caravan and camp site also has a Play Park.
