About

Join our Geopark guide, Fergal Connolly, for this relaxing, waymarked meandering walking trail in the picturesque setting of Killykeen Forest Park along the shores of the beautiful Lough Oughter lake complex.
We will visit the megalithic tombs on Gortanoul and have sight of the iconic Lough Oughter Castle. We will learn about the rich and varied plant and wild life inhabiting the forest and waterways. Keep our eyes peeled for native species such as the jay, red squirrel, pine marten ,Irish hare, water fowl and buzzard.
Please wear suitable footwear and warm waterproof clothing but also factor in sunny weather.
