About

A creel making & basking weaving experience at The Linnet Inn

A popular local spot to unwind an enjoy a pint, The Linnet Inn is also the perfect setting for those interested in learning a little more about the ancient art of Creel Making and Basket Weaving.

Dessie, owner of the Linnet Inn, part-time undertaker and full time shopkeeper will share stories from his community and the links it has with the extensive cave network that lies beneath the pub.

Within the pub, you’ll be surprised by its unique cave features that were made by man but inspired by the Boho Caves.  Adopting the mantra, “if you can’t bring the people to the caves then bring the caves to the people”, Dessie’s father constructed a wonder that can’t be described until it has been seen.

As pints are pulled and willow is weaved to the soft instruction of  master weaver Tommy OBrien, Tommy will regale you with stories of Irish willow weaving, creel making and the birthing of baskets from the most ancient of uses to modern day application.

The Creel Making in the Cave Experience includes a welcome cuppa, entertaining storytelling, a willow weaving workshop and a humble but tasty bowl of broth and locally made fadge.

This experience is perfect for those who have a passion for ancient craft and a genuine interest in local stories.    The experience offers you the opportunity to learn, listen and partake in the craft of willow weaving, learning the history of the magical, mystical landscape known as Boho.

Take yourself away to Boho for 3 hours and return to the outside world with your willow weaving works and a little pinch of this magical fairyland in your pocket.
