Crom Pods

About

Crom is on the shores of Lough Erne, a tranquil estate with a patchwork of islands, ancient woodland and historical ruins stretching across 2,000 acres. It's one of Northern Ireland's most important conservation sites, so head to the bird hide or explore the trails to look out for red squirrels, wild deer, otters and perhaps even a pine marten. There are lots of routes to follow, some great fishing, and you can hire a bike or boat - or bring your watercraft to launch onto the lough.

The holiday pods are part of a complex of old farmyard buildings, along with holiday cottages, the visitor centre and a café (not National Trust, cash only) open for soup, sandwiches and cakes at lunchtime and in the afternoon. The pods were built in the mid 1800s to house animals in the lower farmyard along with a cow house and piggeries. They're in a row of five with stable doors looking out towards the water, just metres from the jetty and boat moorings. There's a shared fire pit a short walk away with wood available to buy from the visitor centre.

Each pod is a small, arched room (4m x 6m) tucked into a barrel-like space with some simple facilities and a picnic table outside. You'll need to bring some of your own gear, and will have the use of communal shower (£) and toilet facilities.

Inside the pods you'll find:

Two single bed frames with single mattresses (there's space for up to three children on the floor on your own airbeds/floormats)
A heater
Overhead lighting, a table lamp and electric plug sockets
Kettle, microwave and mini-fridge
Table and two chairs

Three of the five pods are dog friendly.
