Fermanagh is an ideal venue for walkers. With its vast array or terrains, mountains, forest and castle walks there will be something so suit all strengths, abilities and interests.

Fermanagh District Council have produced a carefully planned and comprehensive walking guide, detailing 25 unique walks throughout the County. The Walking guide grades the walks into four categories from Easy to Difficult and outlines distance, grade and average time to complete as well as the type of terrain, maps available and facilities en route.

Explore Castle Coole with its extensive wooded grounds on the Eastern fringe of Enniskillen or take the challenge to climb to the top of the Magho Cliffs and enjoy breathtaking views across Lower Lough Erne. Various eclectic walks allow both locals and visitors alike to wander through the spectacular natural resources Fermanagh has to offer. Marvel at the panoramic views of Lower and Upper Lough MacNean, Florencecourt and Cuilcagh Mountain or explore the Cladagh Glen taking its name from the Cladagh River which is formed in the cool depths of the Marble Arch Caves Global Geppark.

From Forest to Mountains and Castles to Towns Fermanagh has it all. So what better way to explore this wonderful County than by foot.

A network of quality walking routes, known as the Waymarked Ways covering a total of 360km (225 miles)have been developed throughout Northern Ireland. The ways range in length from 32-55km across a variety of landscapes and terrain from canal towpaths to upland treks but rarely go above 400m. It is possible to make shorter walks as the ways have been divided into sections. They do not demand great stamina or navigational skills.

The eight routes are fully waymarked throughout their length with this standard Waymarked Way symbol. Each way has illustrated interpretation panels strategically placed at various locations along the route providing information on the fascinating range of geological, historical, cultural, archaeological and natural features of Northern Ireland.

While it is possible to simply follow the markers and signs, it is strongly recommended that walkers make use of the specific map guide booklets. These are available to download at www.waymarkedways.com.
