County Fermanagh celebrates VE Day 75

As the most westerly location in the UK to celebrate VE Day, Enniskillen Royal Grammar School, overlooking the Island town of Enniskillen will be the spectacular historic setting for our celebrations with free entertainment for all the family including outdoor adventure activities, musical performances, WW2 displays, Back to the 40's exhibits & vehicles, Armed Forces & Cadets displays and much more.

Last Post and Reveille played in front of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School. This will also be a poignant tribute to the 456 young men from this school who served during WW2 including 50 who gave their lives for the freedom we all enjoy today.
3.00pm
The piping of ' Battles O'er ' and WE DAY 75 ' by Massed Band. A Nations Toast to the Heros of WW2, with our WW2 veterans as special guests and led by Civic Representatives and Lieutenancy for Co. Fermanagh.
The Bells of St. Marcartin's Cathedral will peal, just as they did exactly 75 years ago.

Tree planting ceremony in grounds of school
4.00pm
The Massed Band will perform Beating Retreat at School.
6.55pm
School children will lead ' Cry for Peace ' at St Macartin's Cathedral, Enniskillen.
7.00pm
' Ringing out For Peace ' - The pealing of Bells at St. Macartin's Cathedral
7.30pm
Service of Thanksgiving at St. Michael's Church, Enniskillen
8.30pm
Massed band with march to Enniskillen Castle for ' Beating Retreat ' at Sunset and the playing of ' Battles O'er '
9.30pm
Enniskillen Castle will be floodlit in red and beacons lit along its walls by social school children. Beams of light will project into the night sky above Enniskillen Castle.
Saturday 9th May
Numerous events and parties will take place throughout the County to celebrate VE Day 75
Sunday 10th May
11.00am
Service of Thanksgiving will be held at St. Macartins Cathedral, Enniskillen with Regimental Parade.
